Following previous collaborations in Beijing and Shanghai, anySCALE conceived the MATSU Shenzhen showroom as a “Container of Dreams” — a space where visitors can experience the brand’s furniture designs through a narrative rooted in the city’s coastal identity.
Inspired by the views across Shenzhen Bay toward Hong Kong, the concept Harbor & Sea captures the textures and hues of the waterfront. Industrial materials such as corrugated metal sheets recall shipping containers, creating a striking contrast between raw surfaces and refined executive furnishings. The design also pays homage to MATSU’s early history of importing furniture from Germany to China — a journey once carried out by sea.
Complementing this, the South China Vibes motif highlights Shenzhen’s subtropical spirit through natural materials, greenery, and warm, luminous tones, reflecting one of China’s greenest and most forward-looking cities.
At the heart of the showroom lies a communal hub — a large table and kitchen niche designed for gatherings, workshops, and events within the local design community. The space unfolds as a sequence of interconnected rooms, inviting visitors to explore freely. Nautical design accents throughout gently remind visitors of Shenzhen’s maritime origins — the city where MATSU’s dreams set sail.
