Located in the trendy, commercial expat area of Sanlitun, Polyphony is a collector’s heaven. This unique shop is the passion project of a classical musician with a love for collecting limited edition vinyl and Marvel comics. With a family background in steel manufacturing and Apple as his role model, perfect quality is a must.
Every detail was rigorously tested with only the best materials and finishes employed. The space sports Erco lights, a Bolon floor and wall material by Kvadrat.
The interior design is clean-cut, bright and with crisp details. At 170 square meters anySCALE used the small footprint to their advantage, creating two simple, custom made display walls; one for the comics and one for the records. The comic wall displays 150 comics at a time, using a custom-made, pivoting acrylic display case. The limited edition records are suspended, 50 at a time, in front of a sepia tinted glass using four stainless steel clips to hold each one in place. The sepia colour is repeated in the fabric for the two listening booths, where customers can book an appointment to sample a record. The colour was chosen for it’s vintage feel and adds a warm touch to the otherwise white environment.
