For this project, anySCALE was commissioned to revitalize a section of the Joy City shopping mall, transforming a large portion of the fourth floor into a youthful and vibrant new concept. The client envisioned a live event space that would resonate with the mall’s trend-conscious shoppers and complement the nearby boutique fashion retailers.
The design took inspiration from dance club aesthetics, incorporating a bar, DJ booth, and dynamic lighting installations — unconventional features for a retail environment, yet ones that brought a refreshing sense of energy and performance. The event programming and artistic video installations were conceptualized in collaboration with the creative label MVM Design.
From the outset, design leader Karin Hepp sought to craft a space that would transport visitors beyond the everyday — an environment evoking the sensation of floating through outer space. To capture this surreal, weightless quality, aluminum foam was initially chosen as the primary material, paired with suspended displays of fashion and art. In the final design, the use of aluminum paneling, a live DJ setup, a sleek bar, and immersive LED lighting brought this celestial concept to life, turning a commercial setting into an experience that feels both otherworldly and electrifying.
