anySCALE designed the nobilia House for the German furniture brand nobilia at CIFF Shanghai—one of China’s most prestigious furniture fairs. The concept draws from shared cultural archetypes of German and Chinese life: the city, the village, and the family home.
The free-standing house, a universal symbol of family, comfort, and belonging, became the core motif. Its simple pitched-roof form was distilled into pure geometric volumes, housing nobilia’s furniture collections within.
Six independent structures are arranged around an open courtyard, evoking either a small German village or a Chinese siheyuan. Openings and framed vistas connect interior and exterior views, inviting visitors to step inside and experience the warmth of nobilia’s domestic world.
Each volume is built from stretched fabric over a lightweight metal frame—an efficient, sustainable approach that minimizes waste and allows for rapid assembly.
Abstract yet intimate, the nobilia House embodies anySCALE’s talent for transforming cultural narratives into architectural expression, celebrating home as both a universal symbol and a brand identity.
