HFC is conceived as one of the largest mixed-use developments in a prime location in Shenzhen. The shopping mall, located within the podium of the complex, acts as the central connector between the various functions of the development — including office towers, residential buildings, and educational facilities.
Visitors approach the mall from multiple directions and levels. At the heart of the project lies a large open atrium, which forms the spatial and social centre of the design. To establish a strong focal point both visually and functionally, the atrium is conceived as a cascading stage that gently unfolds from the upper levels down to the lower floors of the mall.
This stepped landscape invites visitors to pause, gather, and interact. More than simply a circulation space, it becomes a social platform — a place to meet, observe, and participate. The cascading stage therefore serves as the main orientation point within the development and establishes a vibrant communal hub.
The architectural language is deliberately restrained. A white-on-white palette defines the spatial clarity of the interior, while wooden accents integrated into the steps and risers introduce warmth and tactility, creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages people to linger.
